Help with Relocating to Germany
Expat Unity takes care of the organisational side of your move. We help you gather and prepare the documents for a residence permit or visa, book appointments with the authorities and accompany you to them, and sort out Anmeldung, housing and a bank account.
If your situation needs a legal assessment, we will find an immigration lawyer and arrange a consultation. We work online and at our office in Landshut.
What our relocation help includes
Residence permits and visas: documents and process
We gather documents to meet the authority's requirements, help you fill in the forms and submit the application, and keep track of deadlines and appointments. The decision on the application is made by the authority.
When a case is non-standard, for example when you need to choose the right legal basis for your stay, it is easier to involve a specialist from the start. We will find a lawyer and arrange a consultation, and the lawyer advises you directly.
Appointments with authorities and accompaniment
We book appointments at the Ausländerbehörde (immigration office), the Bürgeramt (citizens' office) and other authorities. We check your set of documents together with you in advance. If you wish, we go to the appointment with you and help with interpreting on site.
Anmeldung and everyday matters
Anmeldung, the registration of your address, is one of the first steps after moving. After your first registration, your tax identification number (Steuer-ID) arrives by post. We help with Anmeldung and with everyday contracts: mobile phone, internet and others.
Housing and a bank account
We help you search for housing and prepare the documents for a landlord. We help you open a bank account and gather the documents for it.
Finding the specialists you need
We will advise you on how to find a doctor and find other specialists you may need after the move, including a lawyer.
Insurance
Health and other insurance is selected by our partner Boiko Wealth Management; see the "Partner" block below for details.
Pension when moving to or leaving Germany
Your German pension contributions stay yours when you leave: in the EU your contribution years count, and in countries with a social security agreement they may be counted too, and after 5 years of contributions you can receive the pension abroad. Read more about the German pension when moving or leaving.

How is Expat Unity different from an immigration lawyer?
We take care of the organisation: documents, forms, appointments with authorities and accompaniment to them. A lawyer assesses the legal side of your situation. If you need such an assessment, we will find a lawyer and arrange a consultation, and the lawyer advises you directly.
Can I get help online?
Yes. We do most of the work on documents and appointments online. For a personal meeting, come to our office: Neustadt 436, 84028 Landshut.
In which cities do you accompany clients to appointments?
We work across Germany, online and in person. Our office is in Landshut, where you can meet us in person.
Which languages can we communicate in?
Russian, Ukrainian, German and English. At appointments with the authorities we help with interpreting.
Which documents should I prepare for the first conversation?
Bring what you already have: passport, current visa or residence permit, employment contract or job offer, diplomas, rental agreement. After the conversation we will draw up a full list for your situation.
How long does it take to get an appointment with an authority?
It depends on the city and the authority. The earlier you start, the more free dates you can choose from, so it is best to contact us in advance.
Can I contact you if I already live in Germany?
Yes. We help with renewing documents, Anmeldung after moving to another city, appointments with authorities and everyday matters.
Do you help with insurance?
Insurance is selected by our partner Boiko Wealth Management. We will pass on your contact details, and BoikoWM holds the consultation directly.
