Recognition of diplomas and qualifications
Anerkennung is the recognition of a foreign diploma or professional qualification in Germany. For regulated professions, such as doctor, nurse or teacher, recognition is required to work in your profession. For other professions it helps employers understand your level of education and can be useful for some types of residence permit.
How we help:
- we find the authority responsible for recognising your specific profession;
- we draw up a list of documents and help you gather them, including translations;
- we help you fill in and submit the application and keep track of correspondence with the authority.
The decision on recognition is made by the competent authority. If the question affects your residence permit, we will find a lawyer and arrange a consultation.
Choosing education programmes
We help you choose training that fits your goals: university programmes, vocational training (Ausbildung), further training courses and language courses. We look into admission requirements and help you prepare the documents.

It depends on the profession, the authority and how complete your documents are. The earlier you start and the more complete your set of documents, the smoother the process.

Yes, you can also apply for recognition from abroad. That way you arrive in Germany with a clear status for your qualification.
